Computing

Computing at Singleton Church of England School

At Singleton School, we recognize the importance of computing in today’s rapidly changing world. We believe that computing capability is an essential life skill, enabling our students to participate more effectively in modern society. Our curriculum is designed to develop key computing skills through effective teaching and a structured sequence of experiences.

A high-quality computing education at Singleton School equips pupils with computational thinking and creativity, helping them understand and influence the world. Our program integrates computing with mathematics, science, and design technology, providing insights into both natural and artificial systems. Central to our curriculum is computer science, where students learn the principles of information and computation, understand digital systems, and apply this knowledge through programming.

We aim to ensure that all pupils become digitally literate, capable of using information and communication technology to express themselves and develop their ideas. This prepares them for future workplaces and active participation in a digital world.

To support our curriculum, we use the Purple Mash and Education for a Connected World (Online Safety) schemes. Our goal is to help each child reach their full potential in computing through investigation, logical reasoning, and purposeful use of technology. We also emphasize the importance of using technology safely and respectfully.

At Singleton School, every child, including those with special educational needs and disabilities, has access to a broad, rich, and deep computing curriculum.
