Class 3
Class 3 is our final class. This is where you will find our upper Key Stage Two pupils; Year 5 and 6. Mrs James is the class teacher.
The curriculum in Class 3 is enriching and inspiring. A typical school day consists of English, Maths, Guided reading and a foundation subject in the afternoon such as Geography or Music.
In Class 3, the children are encouraged to become members of our Junior Leadership Team. The children become ambassadors for our school and are given many opportunities to represent our school and lead initiatives that support all areas of school life. Junior Leadership roles range from maths leaders to pastoral leaders. As well as Junior Leadership members we also have Foundation Buddies. These are Year 5 pupils, who buddy up with a foundation stage child. Buddies support our younger children with their transition to ‘big school’, they play with them on the playground and model exemplary behaviour.
Mrs James leads Computing, Maths and PE in school. She is passionate about sport and organises all the sporting activities and competitions for our school. She also enjoys maths and runs an annual X Factor times table competition. This sees children from each year group go head-to-head in a speedy multiplication contest. Each year, Mrs James takes the class on a residential trip to the Lake District (this is Mrs James’ favourite time of year). During the residential trip, children take part in activities such as caving, canoeing and ghyll scrambling. Another exciting trip that happens in Class 3 is a trip to London; this happens every two years. We travel to London on the train and visit the House of Parliament.
